Aspect - BODY
Part 1: OVERVIEW
While many things go into making a character, at the lowest level a given character has a series of innate potentials unique to that individual, regardless of species or cultural upbringing.
In The Lens, those innate potentials are represented by ASPECTS, which are a broad way of looking at a character’s capacity, and then QUALITIES, which refine those broad definitions into smaller concepts.
Mechanically, ASPECTS also grant a pool of points which can be spent to either empower a character’s Abilities or defend against outside influences, while Qualities provide a constant modifier to those same Abilities.
Part 2: ASPECTS & POOLS
As noted in the chapter on Building, there are four Aspects - they’re described in more detail below. There are a few things to know about Aspects:
- They’re considered point pools, and their values can fluctuate during play.
- Any single action which would take a Pool to zero or negative numbers will instead drop the Pool to 0 points. This is known as “Going Zero,” and each Aspect has specific rules to adjudge what happens to a character when this happens.
- Any action which would inflict additional damage to a Pool instead inflicts Void damage.
BODY
Body rules athleticism, raw physical prowess and power, and the ability to resist physical difficulties.
AS POWER
The Body Pool can be tapped to make special attacks, take more actions in a combat turn, or
AS VULNERABILITY
Most physical damage types will do damage to your Body pool
The Body Pool often doubles as “hit points” from traditional games, as damage suffered by physical attacks will come out of the Body Pool.
