Attacking

Players attacking:

  • With each Momentum, a player can choose to Act (including Attack), React, or Move.
  • On an Attack, a player rolls their Weapon Use dice, using the target’s AR as their TN.
    • On Success, roll damage. Defending NPC will apply Soak and then take BODY damage.

Example:

Brett wants Peet to attack a goblin mercenary he’s standing behind.

The Goblin’s AR is 5, so Brett needs 5’s or better on the dice he rolls to attack with.

Peet’s Talent Die is only a d6, but his Skill Dice are d8, and his Agility Modifier of +2 can be applied to any of the rolls.

Peet rolls a 4 on d6, and two 2’s on his d8. He uses the +2 on his 4 to get a 6 - one success! But only one success, so now he has to decide whether he misses entirely, or whether his hit strikes, but at some sacrifice or cost to him (possibly even his weapon breaking).

Assuming Peet wants to proceed, his damage is his weapon’s Strike Value plus his Strength Modifier: his short sword’s Strike is 6, and he has no Strength modifier. The Goblin has a 1 soak value, so it takes 5 damage from Brett’s attack.
