BRETT (playing Sneeky Peet): “Peet sneaks up slowly on the camp, taking care to watch out for lookouts or patrols.”
ANDY (the Game Referee): “Roll a Stealth Challenge, Brett. Your Target Number is 6.”
BRETT: “6, yikes!! Okay… 1d10 for Talent and 2d8 for Training… 6, 4, and… 6! Two effort, that’s a success.”
ANDY: “Very nice… Okay. Peet slides up to just outside the campfire’s ring of light; it doesn’t appear as though anyone has noticed him… there are four people there, talking in low voices. A tall human is tending to their equipment, and an imposing-looking drakkhozhn is telling a story to her comrades in a deep, resonant voice. The others are sitting and eating with their backs to you - there’s a pot over the campfire they dip into.”
BRETT: “Could one of them be the gochin merc we’re looking for?”
ANDY: “One of the pair eating and listening to the drak could be gochin - the silhouette is the right size, but between the unsteady firelight and the fact that their backs are to you it’s hard to be sure.”
BRETT: “If I move to a different vantage point could I make a better guess?”
ANDY: “Maybe. What do you do?”
