CIMI, Age of Shadow
The last remnants of the Light struggle for survival in a world that is no longer theirs. With the monsters from the deeps and the Legendary Beasts hunting down the last survivors of civilization, with what few nations survive ramping up for final, utterly brutal wars against each other for resources, and with the Shadow now overtly urging each into conflict, the living ones breathe their last breath – they can only watch impotently as their world falls at last to ash.
The Age of Shadow indicates the final futile resistance of the sentient races against the Shadow. Fallen husks of entire civilizations dot the landscape, scarred lands, infertile and dry, reject seed and plow alike, and those unlucky enough to survive find themselves plunged back into a horrific version of the Age of Dreams, where, no matter where they turn, they are hunted, they are tracked, and they are doomed.
The Age of Shadow can be played in one of two ways:
- As individuals, clinging to hope despite the odds, using their remaining powers to establish a safe haven for their fellows, if only briefly - or leading a rag-tag group of survivors on a mad chase from the Shadow that threatens to consume them, in the distant hope of finding one last Promised Land.
- As a survival simulation, much like Age of Dreams, only there are no promised lands to find, the forces arrayed against the survivors are considerably more deadly, the resources more scarce, and the winner is the last group left alive.
Dark, full of death and utterly hopeless, the Epoch ends when 4/5 of living beings are dead.
